Oman
Empty dunes, dramatic fjords, green mountain terraces and a warm, unhurried welcome — Oman is the Arabian Peninsula without the glitz, made for winter sun and adventure.
About Oman
Muscat is a low-rise capital between mountains and sea, with a grand mosque and lively souks. The Wahiba Sands draw you to desert camps among the dunes, the Hajar Mountains and the terraces of Jebel Akhdar offer cooler heights, the Musandam Peninsula in the north has its fjords, and Salalah in the far south turns green during the monsoon.
What makes Oman special is that it is about winter sun and adventure rather than glitz: wadis, turtle beaches, forts and road trips, with a genuine, safe and welcoming feel. Travel between October and April when the heat eases, or visit Salalah during the khareef monsoon (July–September), when the south is lush and green.
☀ October–April; avoid the summer heat (June–August); Salalah greenest in the khareef monsoon (July–September)
