Croatia
Clear Adriatic water, a thousand islands and walled cities of white stone — Croatia is the Mediterranean without the crowds of its big southern neighbour.
Sobre Croatia
The Dalmatian coast is the star: Split and Dubrovnik are living monuments of marble and sea, with Diocletian's Palace and the famous city walls, while islands like Hvar, Brač and Korčula offer lavender fields, vineyards and pebble coves. Further north lies Istria, a peninsula that feels like Tuscany by the sea — truffles, olive oil, coastal towns like Rovinj — and the Kvarner Bay with islands like Krk and Rab.
Croatia draws both the calm-seekers and the active. The water is exceptionally clear, beloved of snorkellers and sailors; the Plitvice and Krka national parks deliver waterfalls and trails; and on the islands everything slows down. The season peaks in July and August — for swimming with more space, June and September are ideal.
