Über Kos Town

Kos pairs long, shallow beaches (Tigaki, Marmari, Kardamena) with a surprising amount of history: the Asklepieion where Hippocrates taught, a Knights' castle in the harbour and Roman mosaics in town. The island is flat and ideal to explore by bike, and the short transfers from the airport make it popular with families.

Kos Town itself is lively without being overwhelming — palm-lined avenues, terraces and a marina. For something quieter, head to the west coast and the mountain villages at the foot of Mount Dikeos. The swimming season runs May to October, with July and August the warmest months.
